MoI Organizes a Creative Thinking Workshop in Umm Al Quwain (13 December 2013)

The Directorate General of Strategy and Performance Development at the General Secretariat of the Office of H.H Deputy Prime Minister & Minister of Interior, represented by the Department of Complaints and Suggestions, recently held a creative thinking workshop at the Umm Al Quwain Police General Headquarters.

The workshop was inaugurated by Brigadier Dr. Salem Ahmed Al Mazroui, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Umm Al Quwain Police. He noted that “The Police Adopts Creativity” and has creative personnel capable of innovation and finding suitable solutions to any potential obstacles that may hinder police work. This is achieved through modern and advanced systems, aimed to enhance performance and efficiently achieve the strategic goals.

“The Ministry of Interior believes that successful institutions are measure by their innovative achievements and creative staff members. It is our duty to believe in the ability of our staff members, to appreciate their work, and empower them to implement their innovative ideas in their respective departments without restrictions,” he added.

He reiterated the Ministry of Interior’s readiness to set forth a suitable environment to encourage creativity among its personnel, clients, partners, suppliers, and community members. He highlighted the higher leadership’s keenness to motivate discussion and to adopt distinguished proposals for the benefit of the country, within the brainstorming initiative. He also pointed out the police leadership’s commitment to develop the complaints and proposals e-system and to honor distinguished and creative staff members.

“Our leadership is a role model in this area and our doors are open for any suggestions or complaints. Furthermore, we will be sure to study these complaints and send them to the concerned authorities for follow-up,” he said.

For his part, Colonel Mohammed Hamid Dalmouj Al Dhaheri, Strategy and Performance Development Director General said: “What we aspire to at this time is to make creative thinking an essential and necessary requirement for all of the Ministry of Interior’s staff members. We strive to make it an integral part of everyday practices at all levels, taking into account the creative skills of all involved. This, in turn, requires enhancing the existing efforts to provide an environment conducive to creativity for staff members, customers, partners, suppliers and the community as well”.

Afterwards, attendees were briefed on the methodology of creative thinking, the role of leaders in encouraging innovation as a foundation for success in institutions, and the need to provide support and logistics to implement this methodology.

The workshop shed light on the concept of innovation and creativity; defined creative individuals; and described the role of innovation in problem solving. The workshop explored the concept of evaluating innovative ideas and the concept of overseeing their development and methods of usage. During the event, the participants received a questionnaire.

The workshop was attended by director generals, heads of departments, and a large number of officers, non-commissioned officers, and constables from Umm Al Quwain Police General Headquarters.

The workshop is part of a series of workshops that the Directorate General of Strategy and Performance Development, represented by the Department of Complaints and Suggestions, plans to organize for all police sectors and divisions at the Ministry of Interior.
